Our Pack’s History

Cub Scout Pack 420 has been serving the communities of Martinez, Pacheco, and Pleasant Hill since 1971. Every year we engage with our community by performing service projects, touring fire and police stations, meeting with council members, participating at flag ceremonies… The list goes on and on!

Scouting Events

Our pack is divided into two types of groups: dens and the pack. A scouts “den” is made up of all the scouts in their same grade. Each den meets 1-2 times per month, on a schedule that works best for the den members. Den activities are age appropriate, and include a mix of outdoor adventures, character building, and skill development.

All dens combine to form the pack. Pack meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of every month and include award presentations, skits, games, guest speakers, and more. In addition, the pack also hosts outdoor pack activities throughout the year (including the summer), such as camping, hiking, pinewood derby races, fishing, and more.

Patches and Awards

Advancement, progress, and recognition are important to scouting! Every year, scouts work on skills that are appropriate to their age group. For example, 1st graders learn basic first aid, 3rd graders learn knife safety, and 4th graders learn fire safety.

For working on and achieving each of these skills, we recognize the scout’s effort by awarding them with patches and belt loops to wear on their uniform. Being recognized for their hard work in front of their peers is a huge motivator!
